Reel Facts Booklet
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION · TYPOGRAPHY
For this project, I created Reel Facts, a booklet that highlights two films from each decade from the 1960s through the 2000s. Each spread includes a film synopsis, the director’s name, three other films they’re known for, five trivia facts, and a designed pull-quote. The idea was to build something that feels fun, informative, visually consistent.
Source Content
I searched online to gather director info, release years, and trivia details, and I referenced clips whenever I could. For visuals, I used images and design elements that fit the tone of each film and created custom typography for the pull-quotes.
Thought Process
My theme for this project was Fantasy & Adventure Through the Decades, so I wanted the booklet to feel consistent while still letting each film have its own look and personality. Choosing the films took some time because I wanted a balance of well-known titles and movies that showed a different side of each director.
Writing the summaries was challenging because some films had complex stories. Designing the pull-quotes was the most enjoyable part. They broke up the text nicely and my choice of making them all lay vertical made the layout look well put together.
Reflection
If I had more time, I would keep refining each page and making small adjustments to the layouts and typography. I would also design a full back cover to complete the booklet and add a second page next to the table of contents so it opens as a full spread. These additions would help the booklet feel even more complete.
